Mom and I went to Jo-ann tonight for some stuff that I needed for class, and while I was there I bought velvet to use for a background to take grad pictures on (yes, that's on my list). I hung it up and asked Jaclyn to model for me to see how it worked. Not so bad...

Washing Difficulties

Something happened to our washer that it was not draining properly. Mom and Rob got the job of taking out the washing that was still very sudsy...

I have a feeling this wasn't hard for Rob to do!
Yay for the guy who came to fix it today!

Coping with sickness

Poor Katy has been sick with a cough/cold/vomiting/fever/sniffles...you name it...she went through it. Poor girl. So on Wednesday night when I came home from school I gave her a bath in hopes of clearing her up a little (I think it worked) then curled up in my bed with her to talk about her dress I will be making this summer and look at some inspirational pictures. At one point she left to get something and lo and behold, she had gotton her "sunglasses" 'cause the lamp was too bright for her eyes...

At the Art Institute

Daddy, Rob, Jack and I went to the Art Institute while Jack and I were on spring break (you know, nothing to do...haha) so here are a few highlights of the trip
there were this AMAZING miniatures! I can't wait 'til my dollhouse looks like this...

The case of the dupioni silk

When I went to the Vogue Fabrics Warehouse with Mrs Peterson, Emma, Katy, and Mum, I bought a bolt of beautiful sage green dupioni silk (yes, meaning I have 32.3 yards of this stuff!). Ergo, I was wondering "hmmmm...is this stuff period correct? (always have to ask that question, or in four months I will be highly unhappy with myself) My thought is this: we didn't just invent this stuff just for the the fun of having highly slubby (love that word) silk and we really didn't stuff it all in a vault to rot until we came up with it in year whatever...so why wouldn't it be period correct??! (can you see I'm working in favor of my 32.3 yards of silk? :P) Annnnd, Duran fabrics (which you know is very period correct) had a picture up of a robe a 'l Anglaise made up of silver dupioni...I really don't know...here is a painting at the art institute in Chicago that I think could be dupioni...or just really slubby taffata!

Rob's outfit

So I bought a linen/cotton blend (due to the beautiful wrinkleage factor and a very active boy :)for Rob's rev. war outfit and I'm working on different thoughts and styles. My main inspiration was Daniel's outfit that he wore as Mr. Beckley in Rev. City. Sadly, the picture of his outfit is on Jaclyn's computer, so I'll get that out later and upload it. But here are some other thoughts:

Outfit of the Day

Mom has decided I need to start blogging pix of my funny outfits...that I wear daily...o.k. really just the days I'm not at class, sewing, and not taking the time to really get dressed! hehehe

I'm working on a regency gown of crinkle cotton...I LOVE this stuff...too bad it's mourning, oh well, it's still fun!

this gown was something I started one weekend when I had nothing to do...I love doing this to myself...sadly now 'tis reposing in a drawer waiting for summer to come and for college to end so I can finish it! Can't wait...
